91¶ÌÊÓƵ Chemistry Undergraduate Student Receives NIH Support for Biomedical Research
Matthias Schmidt, a dedicated undergraduate chemistry major and Honors student at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ, has recently been awarded a grant of $10,121 from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS). This grant supports Schmidt in his endeavors within Assistant Professor Ka Ho Leung’s research laboratory in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ.
The funding is designated for Schmidt’s active participation in Prof. Leung’s NIH-funded project, focusing on the development of sub-cellular quantitative imaging reporters. These reporters are intended for application in patient skin fibroblasts, with a primary focus on diagnostic purposes.
Schmidt expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, stating, "I initiated my undergraduate research journey during my freshman year at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ, where numerous research opportunities abound.
